The basic idea of finding and tracking cryptocurrency projects
The comments at the end of the article often reflect that readers are unclear about how to find information about projects, ultimately losing track of them.
Today, I will briefly introduce some basic methods for tracking projects.
First, the most widely used and quickest way to find project information is definitely Twitter, which I have emphasized repeatedly. However, the information presented on Twitter is generally fragmented, and to find detailed information about a project, you still need to visit the project's official website.
However, many times when we read online articles introducing various project information, they may not list Twitter and the official website, but simply mention the project token or the token's contract address in passing.
At this point, how can we further track the project's Twitter, official website, and other information from the token or the token's contract address?
A useful tool is Dexscreener (https://dexscreener.com/).
Open this website, and in the upper left corner under the "search" section, we input the project token or the token's contract address, and the website will display possible tokens and the DEXs where the token can be exchanged.
As shown in the image below:
If we click "Search" and input VIRTUAL, we will see the following screenshot:
As shown in the image above, the blockchain where the token is located is BASE, and the DEX for exchanging the token is Uniswap deployed on BASE, with the default box selected for the trading pair of the token.
When we click on that trading pair, we will see the following information:
The image above shows the detailed information of the VIRTUAL token, with the left side of the webpage highlighting the background of BASE to indicate that the token is on the BASE chain. The right side displays the project's official website and Twitter. Of course, if some projects do not have an official website and Twitter, this information will be missing.
Scrolling down the right side of the page, we will see the following screenshot:
In the upper right corner of this page, FDV shows the fully diluted market capitalization of the token, and the lower right corner displays the contract address of the token on the BASE chain.
The above method is suitable for those who have at least some fragmented information about the project and then follow the clues to find other information about the project. Many times, if we want to learn about new projects, we need to pay attention to some channels that frequently publish new information and report on industry dynamics in a timely manner.
Here, I recommend three media outlets: TechFlowPost (@TechFlowPost), BlockBeatsAsia (@BlockBeatsAsia), and PANews (@PANewsCN).
These media outlets often report first-hand information in a timely manner. My understanding of many new ecosystems and emerging trends comes from these media.
Of course, there are also many KOLs and influencers on Twitter, and I won't recommend them one by one here. If you want to follow them, you can pay attention to some lively interactions in certain topics. For example, under the tweets published by the three media mentioned above, there are sometimes KOLs and influencers interacting with them. You can choose to follow those KOLs and influencers whose values align with yours from these interactions.
Finally, when reading information, everyone should think and reflect more.
The simplest way is to follow the projects mentioned in the articles, but if that's all, it would be too superficial. We need to learn to look for the future, trends, and emerging signs from the articles.
For example, if the article mentions a project on the BASE chain, we can try to expand our thinking:
Are there similar projects on other chains?
Is this project the only one that can use this model? Are there other projects that might also adopt a similar model?
Does this project only involve one field? Could it potentially involve other technologies? Other ecosystems?
Following this line of thought, we can speculate about projects or ecosystems that have not yet appeared or are still in their infancy. With this foundational thinking, when we encounter similar projects in the future, we are likely to be among the first early investors to discover such projects.
