COPA accuses Craig Wright of contempt of court, seeking a two-year prison sentence
ChainCatcher news, according to CoinDesk, the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) has filed a lawsuit against Craig Wright for alleged contempt of court, seeking a maximum of two years in prison. COPA proposed in court documents an initial 18-month prison sentence for Wright, with an additional 6 months if he does not promptly cease his contemptuous litigation behavior.
In March of this year, High Court Judge James Mellor formally ruled that Wright is not the Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto and issued an injunction preventing him from bringing lawsuits on this matter in the UK and other jurisdictions. Mellor warned at the time, "Once the dust settles, Wright is likely to ramp up his public promotion efforts again." However, in October of this year, Wright still filed a lawsuit regarding intellectual property related to the Bitcoin system, claiming damages of up to £900 million (approximately $1.1 billion).
