ChainCatcher message, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated on social media, "Deep Funding combines two ideas:

  • Value Graph: Instead of asking 'How much does X contribute to humanity?', it's better to ask 'How much of Y's contribution is attributed to X?'
  • Refining Human Judgment: An open AI market provides all weight allocation suggestions, which are then verified by a randomly sampled human jury.

The first idea (Value Graph) has gradually become a popular paradigm in recent years, and the reasons are quite compelling. It is very difficult to measure contributions abstractly: if you ask people how much they would be willing to pay to save N birds, they might respond that it is $80 when N=2000 and also $80 when N=200000. Questions like 'Which is more valuable for C, A or B?' are much easier to handle.

The second idea (Refining Human Judgment) is based on some thoughts from my info finance article: the condensation of human judgment in information finance. Anyone can use any method (like AI) to suggest weights for all graph edges, and a human jury conducts a detailed analysis of randomly sampled edges. Ultimately, the submission that is most compatible with the jury's answers determines the final output."
