Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg donated $1 million to President-elect Trump's inauguration committee
ChainCatcher news, Meta Platforms (META.O) has donated $1 million to the inauguration fund of incoming President Trump, marking the latest move by the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg to solidify the once-tense relationship with Trump.
The company confirmed the donation, which differs from Zuckerberg's and his company's past practices. Previously, Trump threatened during his campaign that he would retaliate if Zuckerberg attempted to influence the election against him. Zuckerberg's efforts to strengthen the relationship began several years ago, including a dinner with Trump on the terrace of Mar-a-Lago in November. Before the dinner, Zuckerberg privately showcased Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses to Trump and gifted them to him.
