Trump announces the appointment of William Joseph McGinley as a committee advisor in the Department of Government Efficiency
ChainCatcher news, Trump recently announced the appointment of William Joseph McGinley as a committee advisor in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The department heads, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, have begun sharing details about DOGE's work, promising to equip the committee with "a capable team of small government reformers."
DOGE informed interested parties on its X account to attach their resumes in private messages. Reports indicate that several Silicon Valley leaders, including investor Marc Andreessen and Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick, are involved in planning for the committee. DOGE's co-leaders stated that they aim to cut $2 trillion from the federal budget. In 2024, total federal spending is projected to be $6.75 trillion, with nine-tenths allocated to federal programs.
The two explained how DOGE operates in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed. They stated that they would rely on two Supreme Court rulings to assist Trump in rolling back regulations. However, legal experts told CNN that the two misunderstood the Supreme Court cases, and some of the committee's work may face legal challenges.
