ChainCatcher news, Polygon revealed in a post on platform X that a pristine first edition holographic Charizard Pokémon card issued in 1999 will be tokenized through the Ethereum scaling network Polygon and auctioned by the collectibles platform Courtyard. It is reported that the card will be securely stored in Brink's vault, with an estimated value of up to $250,000.

Marc Boiron added that this auction is not just about the Charizard card, but also showcases how blockchain can fundamentally change the world of collectibles. Additionally, a representative from Polygon Labs disclosed that they acquired the card from a well-known seller. According to market data since 2020, similar first edition Charizard Pokémon cards have sold for approximately between $264,000 and $400,000.
