Building With ZK & Staking Event Review: ZK and Staking, Important Drivers of Industry Innovation
Token2049 will be held on September 18-19, 2024, at the MARINA BAY SANDS Convention Center in Singapore, featuring over 500 Side Events focusing on ecosystems such as ZK, RWA, Gaming, Meme, and BTC. More than 50,000 crypto enthusiasts will gather in Singapore to celebrate this grand event. On September 19, 2024, DP Capital, in collaboration with Zypher Network, Hedwig Labs, Polyhedra, and io.net, hosted an event themed "NEXTGEN WEB3: Building With ZK & Staking." This event received strong support from the well-known Web3 media ChainCatcher and the first asset data platform in Web3, RootData, aiming to bring together top ZK and Staking project teams in the industry to explore the future development trends and opportunities in the ZK and Staking sectors.
After a brief introduction by the host, Asa, the Asia-Pacific head of io.net, presented the current status and advantages of io.net.
He mentioned that "GPUs Are The New Oil," affirming the blue ocean effect of GPUs. He noted that IO.net is addressing the GPU shortage by aggregating GPU supplies from multiple sources onto a single platform, allowing users to access nearly unlimited computing power at a fraction of the cost of traditional cloud providers. He emphasized four major advantages of IO.net: flexibility and scalability—users can choose the best GPUs in the world, such as A100s and H100s with NVLink, and customize their location, security level, and connection speed. Users can even opt to rent for just one hour; efficient accessibility and speed—unlike AWS (which may take weeks to deploy), deployments on io.net are nearly instantaneous; unrestricted access—io.net does not require KYC or lengthy registration processes. Anyone can join at any time; and extremely low costs—by utilizing other idle GPUs, io.net can offer prices that are 90% lower than those of monopolistic centralized companies.
Next, Wes Finley, Head of Community at Polyhedra, introduced the audience to Polyhedra's innovations and future developments related to zk.
He mentioned that verifiable computation, privacy, and scalability are the three core aspects of zero-knowledge proofs, which have accelerated interest in zero-knowledge applications in both web2 and web3. Interoperability, zk-rollup, digital identity, private payments, and zero-knowledge machine learning (zkML) are just a few areas where zero-knowledge will disrupt.
Built on research foundations, Polyhedra Network continues to push the limits of performance, unlocking new use cases and exponentially improving existing systems. Products like zkBridge, Proof Cloud, Proof Arena, and the zk-based AI supercomputing network (ZKJ Chain) offer users and the entire crypto market better options than traditional solutions.
Zypher Network, also in the ZK space, extends the dilemma of web3 gaming to explore how zk can help game developers solve the challenges of on-chain game development and how to seamlessly migrate web2 games to web3.
Amber, the CMO of Zypher Network, delivered a keynote on zk gaming, stating, "Gaming is one of the best ways to onboard people into Web3." However, fully playable on-chain games do not yet exist. Traditional games rely on centralized servers, leading to issues such as lack of transparency, no true ownership, and security concerns, while fully on-chain games are hindered by chain performance, the transparency of on-chain information, and frequent transaction fees.
She proposed that most gameplay developed with zk components remains off-chain, but verifying results and managing assets could remain on-chain. Web2.75 games might be the ultimate solution for on-chain gaming. Zypher performs game logic calculations off-chain but uses zk proofs to verify results on-chain, helping developers build decentralized games without traditional servers through a zkproof mining network. This balances decentralization with practicality.
The "Building With ZK & Staking" event was undoubtedly a highly successful industry gathering. It not only showcased the latest advancements and market trends in zk and Staking technologies but also provided attendees with a valuable platform to gain insights into industry dynamics, share practical experiences, and expand their collaborative networks. Attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet, participated in engaging panel discussions, and created a lively atmosphere! We thank all participants for their support in advancing Web3 together! We have reason to believe that in the coming days, zk and Staking will continue to lead innovation in the web3 industry, injecting continuous vitality into the development of the crypto world.
