Metya COO of Dialogue AI & Web3 Dating Platform: Aiming to Bring More Human Care to Web3
Interviewer: Mensh, ChainCatcher
Guest: Christy, Metya COO
Organizer: Mensh, ChainCatcher
Recently, Metya COO Christy participated in the "DeInsight 2024" annual summit co-hosted by Web3 asset data platform RootData and ChainCatcher during Devcon, and took part in a roundtable discussion themed "Social, AIGC and Metaverse." During the discussion, she expressed that the progress of social interaction has been underestimated and she looks forward to the impact of AIGC on various aspects of daily socializing. After the event, ChainCatcher also invited Christy for an interview.
Against the backdrop of the growing SocialFi landscape, Metya, as an AI-driven Web3 dating platform, adheres to a people-centric principle and is committed to lowering social barriers through technology. We are fortunate to interview Metya's co-founder Christy, who will provide us with an in-depth introduction to the vision and mission of this unique platform. Christy stated that Metya combines blockchain and AI technology to provide users with a decentralized, privacy-protecting, and incentive-driven dating experience. Through token incentives, Metya hopes to help users easily find like-minded partners while gaining tangible benefits through interactions.
People-Centric, Using Technology to Lower Social Barriers
ChainCatcher: Can you briefly introduce Metya?
Christy: Metya is an AI-driven Web3 dating platform. We aim to create a decentralized, privacy-protecting, and incentive-driven dating experience for users by combining blockchain technology and AI. Our platform not only allows users to easily find like-minded partners but also incentivizes users to gain tangible benefits through social interactions and mining.
ChainCatcher: What inspired you to establish Metya?
Christy: We should find the pain points with a people-centric approach; there is a significant gap between current technology and people. What we do is lower social barriers through token incentives, for example, token incentives are like offering a big discount. We give our users tokens and teach them how to redeem them; during the redemption process, do they start to cross that barrier? That’s what we are doing. The Metya team has over 12 years of experience in the Web2 social space, having built social products with hundreds of millions of users. We know how to design excellent interactive experiences and content incentive systems for users, which has helped us attract a large number of Web2 users while providing a high retention service experience.
ChainCatcher: How does Metya differ from Web2 social apps like Tinder, Momo, and Tantan?
Christy: First, Metya is a decentralized platform where user privacy and data security are guaranteed by blockchain technology, meaning users have complete control over their data. Secondly, we use AI technology to improve matching accuracy, allowing users to find matches more quickly and accurately. Finally, Metya introduces a social interaction mining mechanism, enabling users to earn token rewards while participating in interactions, thus realizing a "social equals profit" model.
AI and DePIN, Expanding New Ways for SocialFi
ChainCatcher: What role does AI play in the Metya platform?
Christy: AI is very important for Metya. Our AI-driven matching mechanism can enhance matching accuracy based on various factors such as user interests and preferences. Additionally, our AI provides 24/7 digital companionship, offering emotional support and interaction suggestions to help users engage better in social interactions. At the same time, AI also participates in the automatic generation of social content, making the social experience richer and smarter.
ChainCatcher: I heard that Metya has launched a DePIN product; can you elaborate on that?
Christy: Yes, our DePIN product is called MeAi, a translation device that supports 138 languages and has a very fast translation speed of 0.87 milliseconds. It can seamlessly integrate with various social applications to help users achieve instant cross-language communication. Moreover, we have combined MeAi with blockchain technology to record users' communication behaviors on-chain. This not only increases the security of communication but also aims to provide a way for global users to overcome language barriers. Notably, MeAi can also be used for social mining, which is an additional attraction for many users. Currently, our first batch of 2000 units has sold out, and we will launch new batches based on demand.
ChainCatcher: How many users have registered on Metya? What is the current user profile?
Christy: Metya now has over 8.5 million active users worldwide. These users are mainly distributed in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, with the 20-35 age group making up the vast majority. In terms of gender ratio, our platform maintains a relatively balanced male-to-female ratio, allowing users to have the best social matching environment.
ChainCatcher: How does SocialFi improve user engagement experience?
Christy: SocialFi improves user experience through a token incentive mechanism. Every social behavior on the Metya platform is quantified and rewarded with tokens, allowing users to enjoy the fun of socializing while also receiving economic incentives through interactions. This reward mechanism greatly enhances users' sense of belonging and participation. Additionally, to maintain user activity, we encourage continuous participation through community activities, regular incentive programs, and social mining. Furthermore, we focus on building a positive community culture, allowing users to feel a sense of belonging and value, thus participating in platform interactions for a longer time.
User Incentives, Co-Creating the Future of SocialFi
ChainCatcher: Metya plans to go public and list in 2025; how can users participate in this process?
Christy: We will have an airdrop plan, with about 40% of the tokens allocated to users. Users can become part of Metya's development by participating in the platform's token economy and governance process. Users can participate in platform decision-making and voting by holding the platform's token $MET, and in the future, they will have the opportunity to share in the platform's growth benefits. Additionally, we will launch some user incentive programs to encourage users to actively participate in our development.
ChainCatcher: What is your outlook on the future of SocialFi?
Christy: I believe SocialFi is an important part of Web3, combining social interaction with financial incentives to provide users with a new social experience. In the future, SocialFi will continue to develop and gradually become an important way for users to interact with each other. Metya, through the combination of AI, blockchain technology, and economic incentive mechanisms, will continue to promote the development of SocialFi, aiming to build a social ecosystem where users control their data and earnings.
ChainCatcher: What underlying technologies support the success of SocialFi?
Christy: The success of SocialFi relies on underlying technologies such as blockchain, smart contracts, and NFTs. Blockchain ensures the transparency and immutability of data; smart contracts automatically execute incentive rules to ensure fairness; NFTs provide unique ownership and economic value for users' creations, making content valuable both within and outside the platform. We use decentralized data storage (such as IPFS) to protect user data privacy and security, ensuring that users do not have to worry about data leakage when interacting with others. At the same time, through blockchain technology, we can record every social behavior, ensuring data integrity and transparency.
ChainCatcher: What have you gained from attending Devcon in Bangkok?
Christy: This Devcon is likely the last large-scale blockchain event in the Asian region for 2024, and it coincides with the official launch of Metya's DePIN device, the AI translator MeAi, which is also the official release of Metya's social network hardware nodes. This marks the official start of Metya's ecological layout from a DatingFi project, launching our DatingFi+DePIN+AI ecosystem. So, besides fundraising, this Devcon is also an opportunity for our ecological layout to officially debut, connecting us with more partners to promote large-scale applications from Web2 to Web3.
ChainCatcher: Thank you, Christy, for sharing. Metya is committed to creating a more open and secure Web3 social platform through technological innovation and user incentives, providing real value returns to users. In the future, we also look forward to Metya continuing to lead innovation in the development of SocialFi and decentralized social networks, encouraging more people to participate in the Web3 social experience.
