ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, ConsenSys' Ethereum validation node provider Infura has announced significant progress in its decentralized infrastructure network (DIN) and plans to launch as an Active Validation Service (AVS) on the Ethereum restaking platform EigenLayer.

Infura DIN product lead Tom Hay announced at the Devcon 2024 conference: "By leveraging Ethereum's economic security through EigenLayer, we continue to build a permissionless Web3 infrastructure service marketplace on the steady progress of DIN." Launching DIN as an AVS through EigenLayer offers multiple advantages, including reduced development costs, increased accessibility and reliability of Web3 services, fostering a collaborative environment among providers, and simplifying the process of launching new services across Web3 gateways.

The main goal of this deployment is to create a more accessible, reliable, and efficient decentralized infrastructure to support Web3 development while leveraging Ethereum's economic security. It also utilizes EigenLayer's restaking as an entry mechanism, providing staking and slashing protection without requiring projects to prematurely launch tokens.
