The number of initial jobless claims in the United States has risen, remaining at pre-pandemic levels
ChainCatcher News, the number of initial jobless claims in the U.S. increased by 3,000 to 221,000 for the week ending November 2, in line with market expectations. The number of continuing jobless claims rose to 1.892 million, the highest level since November 2021, possibly reflecting the lingering effects of last month's hurricane and strikes.
As the impact of the hurricane fades, initial jobless claims have decreased. Boeing reached an agreement to end the strike on Tuesday, which also means that the impact on the job market should soon diminish. Before adjusting for seasonal factors, initial jobless claims rose last week. California, Michigan, and Ohio saw the largest increases, while initial jobless claims in Florida and Georgia decreased.
