ChainCatcher news, according to the Associated Press, the Republicans have secured 50 seats in the Senate, with a 99% chance of flipping control of the Senate.
According to Reuters, the Republicans have gained control of the U.S. Senate, ensuring at least a 51-49 majority with victories in West Virginia and Ohio. This outcome will enable Trump, if he wins the presidential election, to nominate conservative judges and officials, or block Kamala Harris's agenda if she wins.
In the House elections, control remains uncertain. The Republicans gained three seats in North Carolina's redistricting, while the Democrats won a newly drawn majority-Black district in Alabama. The Democrats need to flip at least six seats to gain control of the House. Meanwhile, Delaware elected its first openly transgender congressperson, Sarah McBride.
In the Senate, media predicts that Democrat Angela Alsobrooks will win in Maryland, and Lisa Blunt Rochester will be elected in Delaware, marking the first time the Senate will have two Black women serving simultaneously.
