Severe weather strikes swing states on election day, voting activities may be affected

ChainCatcher news, on the day of the U.S. election, some key battleground states were hit by a strong cold front, resulting in heavy rain and severe storm weather. From eastern Texas to the border of Missouri and Illinois, including the city of St. Louis, the highest rainfall was recorded. Many flash flood warnings were also issued in these areas. Although the rain will slowly shift eastward, the rain that has already fallen may affect voters trying to head out to vote in the morning. The front will continue to move eastward, bringing showers to battleground states such as Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan, as well as southern Louisiana.

In past elections, rain has led to a slight decrease in voter turnout. Among the seven battleground states, Wisconsin is experiencing the worst weather, with the Storm Prediction Center issuing severe storm threats ranging from level 1 to level 5 for most of the state. Widespread showers and even thunderstorms could bring gusts exceeding 60 miles per hour and brief tornadoes.
