SEC enforcement director Gurbir Grewal will leave on October 11

ChainCatcher news, according to the official announcement, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today announced that the Director of the Enforcement Division, Gurbir S. Grewal, will be leaving on October 11, 2024. After Mr. Grewal's departure, the Deputy Director of the Enforcement Division, Sanjay Wadhwa, will serve as Acting Director, and the Chief Counsel of the Enforcement Division, Sam Waldon, will serve as Acting Deputy Director.

"We are very fortunate to have an outstanding public servant like Gurbir Grewal join the SEC and lead the Enforcement Division over the past three years," said SEC Chairman Gary Gensler. "Every day, he has been thinking about how best to protect investors and help ensure that market participants comply with time-tested securities laws. The Enforcement Division he led has always been fearless, following the facts and the law, and remaining impartial. I have greatly enjoyed working with him and wish him all the best."
