ChainCatcher news, according to The New York Times, OpenAI is expected to incur massive losses this year, but as the company raises the fees for ChatGPT, revenue is projected to continue to grow explosively over the next five years.

According to a document, the company expects revenue to reach $3.7 billion in 2024, with ChatGPT expected to generate $2.7 billion in revenue this year, of which $1 billion will come from other businesses.

However, The New York Times reported that OpenAI expects to lose $5 billion this year, excluding stock-based compensation. OpenAI's largest cost is the computing expenses it incurs from its partner and largest investor, Microsoft, as OpenAI's products are hosted on Microsoft's cloud services.

The report added that despite this, OpenAI's revenue reached $300 million in August, a 1700% increase since the beginning of 2023. Growth is expected to continue soaring, with OpenAI predicting revenue will more than double by 2025, reaching $11.6 billion, and ultimately hitting $100 billion by 2029. Part of the future revenue will come from increased fees paid by ChatGPT users.

The report stated that by the end of this year, the ChatGPT fee will rise from the current $20 per month to $22, and then increase to $44 over the next five years.

OpenAI declined to comment to The New York Times and did not immediately respond to Fortune's request for comment. CNBC independently confirmed the annual revenue and loss forecasts.
