Two other tech giants, Microsoft (MSFT.O) and Nvidia (NVDA.O), have been in talks to participate in this round of investment.
According to insiders, Microsoft is expected to invest about $1 billion, which is an additional investment on top of the $13 billion it has already invested.
It is reported that on August 30, Apple was negotiating to join OpenAI's new round of financing.
