Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm will enter trial proceedings
According to ChainCatcher news, as reported by CoinDesk, a New York judge has ruled that the criminal case against Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm will proceed to trial. The U.S. Department of Justice has charged Storm and his colleague Roman Semenov with three counts, including conspiracy to commit money laundering, operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, and violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, with the charges involving assisting the North Korean hacking group Lazarus Group in laundering over $1 billion.
Storm has pleaded not guilty to all charges, and his defense team claims he merely wrote the code for Tornado Cash. The trial is set to begin on December 2, and if convicted, Storm could face up to 45 years in prison.
