McLaren Racing and OKX jointly launched the exclusive "Legend Reborn" livery for the Singapore Grand Prix, paying tribute to the MP4 era
On September 19, the McLaren Racing Team and leading on-chain technology company and official primary partner of the McLaren F1 Team, OKX, unveiled a limited edition "Legend Reborn" livery design, which will be used on the McLaren MCL38 F1 car at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.
The "Legend Reborn" livery was co-designed by McLaren and OKX to pay tribute to McLaren's iconic MP4 era (1981 to 1996). The MP4 series is widely regarded as one of the greatest F1 cars of all time, showcasing a true spirit of innovation, a quality both brands value. This livery design incorporates elements from the MP4 era along with McLaren's signature papaya orange, honoring the team's glorious history.
Legend Reborn made its debut at an exclusive track event in Singapore, attended by OKX Chief Marketing Officer Haider Rafique, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown, and McLaren F1 Team drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
The livery also pays homage to McLaren's legendary drivers, including Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, and Niki Lauda, who drove and helped create the iconic historical era of the MP4. The cockpit livery features the names of 13 iconic drivers from that era.
The collaboration between McLaren and OKX focuses on innovation and enhancing the fan experience, while Legend Reborn serves as a springboard for McLaren's tradition, evoking a unique sense of nostalgia and pushing McLaren into a broader motorsport community.
The Legend Reborn livery continues the tribute livery to Senna that debuted earlier this year at the Monaco Grand Prix—"McLaren Senna presented by OKX."
McLaren Racing Chief Marketing Officer Louise McEwen said: "It's fantastic to partner with OKX to bring our third custom livery back to Singapore. Legend Reborn is a great way to celebrate and commemorate our iconic history, uniting both new and old fans. Following this year's Senna event, this livery further embodies our partnership with OKX, and we will continue to provide unique brand stories for the global fans of both brands."
OKX Chief Marketing Officer Haider Rafique said: "Like McLaren, we believe in the power of persistence and innovation. This year, we launched several upgrades of our own, including a complete overhaul of our wallet, making it easier for people around the world to access the on-chain world. We believe that, like F1, cryptocurrency can be disrupted by a visionary team that innovates fearlessly and has a 'challenger' mindset. It’s a new era for replacing established hierarchies, and Legend Reborn encourages us to look back at the past for inspiration as we plan new routes for the future."
