Greeks.live: The IV of ultra-short-term options reaches 70%, and the IV of put options is significantly higher
ChainCatcher news, Greeks.live macro researcher Adam posted an analysis on the X platform, stating that the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision will be announced in three hours. Currently, based on futures data, there is a 60% probability of a 50 basis point rate cut and a 40% probability of a 25 basis point rate cut. All markets are focused on this.
From the cryptocurrency options data, there is also a significant divergence in the market. The implied volatility (IV) for ultra-short-term options is as high as 70%, with a noticeably higher IV for put options. In terms of options trading distribution, the BTC 58000 puts and ETH 2200 puts have the highest trading volume, indicating that the options market is generally bearish ahead of the interest rate meeting. A 25 basis point cut would be below expectations, while a 50 basis point cut suggests a deterioration in economic indicators.
