The topic revolves around Web3 developer education and ecosystem building.

On September 17, 2024, HackQuest, Nanyang Technological University, Open Campus, and KIP Protocol will jointly host the inaugural Web3 Dev Huddle: Educate & Buidl at the Innovation Port building of Nanyang Technological University, focusing on the education of Web3 developers and the construction of the ecosystem.

This summit is one of the first events aimed at developers and educators in the Web3 field, supported by partners including Open Campus, KIP Protocol, Rootdata, Road to Dev Con at Ethereum Foundation, Wormhole, Hash Global, Telos, Arbitrum, Mantle, Vara, Morph, MegaETH, XION, AIA Chain, SevenX Ventures, and others.

Addressing the Challenge of Talent Shortage in Web3 Development

As the demand for Web3 technology continues to grow, the shortage of Web3 developer skills has become increasingly prominent, making it urgent to fill this gap.

According to Statista, the number of global Web2 developers is expected to reach approximately 28.7 million by 2024, while the development in the Web3 field is significantly lagging. The Electric Capital 2023 Developer Report shows that there are only 26,037 active monthly contributors to open-source crypto projects, and the number of full-time Web3 developers is just 7,661.

Although the total number of Web3 developers may be relatively high, the gap compared to Web2 developers remains significant. The development of Web3 largely depends on the participation of developers, and this gap highlights the urgent need to bring more talent into the Web3 ecosystem. To this end, HackQuest, Nanyang Technological University, Open Campus, and KIP Protocol are working together through educational collaborations to fill the talent gap in Web3, promote the widespread application of Web3 technology, and establish a robust ecosystem comparable to Web2.

Web3 Dev Huddle: A Collective Effort to Promote Web3 Developer Education

HackQuest, Nanyang Technological University, Open Campus, and KIP Protocol recognize the importance of developer education and attracting new talent, as developers are the core driving force behind the development of Web3, and education brings more talent to the ecosystem. Through the Web3 Dev Huddle: Educate & Buidl series of events, their vision is to continuously empower more Web3 developers in the future.

HackQuest is dedicated to providing educational services, hackathon management, and startup acceleration support for Web3 developers. To date, HackQuest has successfully supported over 30,000 Web3 learners, helped more than 20 leading Web3 ecosystems attract quality developer talent, and assisted over 120 startups in securing venture capital. The free MOOC developed in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University, titled "Ideating and Building on Web3," focuses on practical training in Web3 development, smart contracts, and tokenomics, helping participants master core skills in the Web3 field.

The strategic partnership between Open Campus and HackQuest further solidifies their efforts in the field of educational technology. The recently launched OCP-10 program successfully raised $20 million for a developer ecosystem fund and node leasing, also aiming to promote the construction of decentralized educational applications (dApps) on the EDU Chain. As the first Layer 3 blockchain designed specifically for education, Open Campus has formed a mature ecosystem with the support of Animoca Brands, Sequoia Capital, and Binance, covering over 80 partners, 500,000 OC IDs, and more than 5,000 developers. Additionally, the OpenCampus EDU Semester 1 Chain Hackathon recently concluded successfully, with over 700 dApps submitted, further demonstrating the strong interest of Web3 ecosystem builders in educational applications.

KIP Protocol is a Web3 underlying protocol designed for AI, addressing issues such as scalability, security, and data privacy by providing decentralized infrastructure. KIP Protocol is collaborating with Open Campus to launch Open Campus University in the third quarter of 2024, aiming to transform the global education landscape through decentralized AI. This collaboration makes quality education more accessible, reshaping the $8 trillion education industry by empowering educators with personalized learning experiences that turn their knowledge into capital assets.
