UK Addiction Treatment Center: Puffpaw gamification and crypto rewards may make users more addicted to vaping
ChainCatcher news, according to Protos, the blockchain e-cigarette project Puffpaw has sparked controversy for potentially increasing users' dependence on e-cigarettes. The project uploads users' smoking data to the Berachain blockchain through a "smoke and earn" mechanism and issues token rewards when usage decreases.
The UK addiction treatment center UKAT warns that this gamification and crypto rewards could make users more addicted to vaping, and may even attract non-smokers, contradicting the original intention of quitting smoking.
Additionally, social media users have reacted lukewarmly to the project, questioning its actual effectiveness and health implications.
Previous news, the Berachain ecosystem DePIN project Puffpaw announced the completion of a $6 million seed round financing, with participation from Lemniscap Ventures. The Puffpaw project plans to launch a blockchain-enabled e-cigarette aimed at helping users reduce nicotine intake through token incentives.
