At the end of August, the on-chain IP protocol Story Protocol launched its first public testnet, Iliad, allowing users to mint IP assets on the Story Network, transforming IP into liquid, programmable, and ownable digital assets.

What truly matters is not just putting media files on-chain, but ensuring that every piece of content on the internet has software-based rules that dictate how others can obtain permission, remix, and expand that intellectual property. It is also crucial to enable creators to monetize their IP as training data in AI."

With a staggering $140 million in funding, Story Protocol's ecosystem interactions are also drawing attention. BlockBook

BlockBook is a user-generated content (UGC) platform focused on IP. Here, collaborating brands and influencers can initiate interactive competitions called "Sparks" on the BlockBook platform to encourage fans to create around specific themes; contributors can submit videos, audio, images, or text content, enjoying the pleasure of having their content showcased while earning exclusive custom rewards and Creator Credits. Contributors can be writers, videographers, musicians, producers, poets, or even AI Prompters, engineers, and scientists.

When a work is submitted, it is minted as an NFT and registered through Story Protocol, marking it as IP. After submitting contributions, users can seamlessly redeem IP assets directly into their MetaMask wallets, ensuring control and access to their creative works.

Creator Credits are the native currency within the BlockBook ecosystem, serving as a unified tool to reward users, contributors, and creators for their contributions to the platform. It also supports in-app purchases, content boosts, unlocking private messages, and tipping functionalities.

Interaction Strategy: Contribute works in the "Sparks" competition. Currently, contributors can earn 100 Creator Credits for each submission, and those who place in the top three can receive additional credit rewards, USDC rewards, and BlockBook merchandise like hoodies. Additionally, being featured by creators can earn 500 credits, while likes or comments from creators will each earn 100 Creator Credits.

Color Marketplace

Color is an IP marketplace built on Story, supporting the buying, selling, and trading of NFTs, IP assets, and licenses. Color aims to facilitate co-creation and remixing, allowing seamless building and expansion on others' works while protecting creators' own creations.

Interaction Strategy: Mint Color commemorative NFTs, purchase NFTs, register NFTs as IP assets on the Profile page, list NFTs or IP assets.

PIPERX

PIPERX, formerly known as IPX, was redesigned as a DEX in August, aiming to build an IPFi infrastructure specifically tailored for Story, providing a foundational liquidity layer for the programmable IP ecosystem.

PIPERX supports seamless trading of any ERC-20 tokens, including fragmented IP assets, royalty token flow income from top IPs, stablecoins, and other DeFi tokens.

PiperX also offers SDK and API support for integrating IPFi into other programmable IP applications.

Unleash Protocol

Unleash Protocol aims to simplify the registration, licensing, and trading of IP assets, enhancing market liquidity and lowering investment barriers through fragmented IP. Its key components include IPGE (IP Generation Event), IPCO (IP Launchpad), IP Studio (IP approval commitment), and IPFi.

Among them, IPGE allows creators or artists to register their IP, with the Unleash team conducting minimal review after registration. The IP can then undergo IPCO based on the sales structure submitted by the IP owner, allowing anyone to participate in IPCO to obtain IP ownership. In the future, Unleash Protocol also plans to support various sales methods such as Bonding curves and LBP.

After IPCO, IPs are automatically split into ERC-404 tokens on IPGE. ERC-404 token holders can participate in the upcoming IP Studio, having a say in decision-making as part of the IP owners. Additionally, profits generated from the IP will be shared with ERC-404 stakers in proportion to their ownership shares.

Unleash Market is also a money market supporting lending of various assets. Notably, a "Points" section has appeared on the Unleash website, although no corresponding content is currently displayed.

Sekai can be seen as an AI storytelling platform that helps storytellers, artists, and fans co-create immersive interactive stories through simple prompts (image, sound, and music generation).

Interaction Strategy: Participate in weekly storytelling competitions, generating stories after providing story ideas and types (however, the author currently encountered a 500 HTTP error during creation).

Mycelium Network

Mycelium Network is an integrated creative suite that supports easy creation, remixing, and licensing of assets on Story Protocol, facilitating co-creation and the easy creation of memes and visual content. Mycelium Network has also partnered with Mindblowon Studio, the creator of the webcomic project Tahilalats and MINDBLOWON UNIVERSE (a cartoon IP originating from the virtual world).

The tools provided by Mycelium Network include IP registration, repositories, licensing, royalty modules, and intellectual property lineage tracking, as well as end-to-end solutions for user creation, including style guide generators, editing tools, and asset repositories.

Mycelium Network launched a closed testnet at the end of August, currently accessible only to partners. The first creative tool launched by Mycelium uses The Neighbours mascot, supporting the construction of a mimic universe around The Neighbours mascot.
