ChainCatcher news, according to Bloomberg, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has been detained in Paris for four days on suspicion of allowing criminals to operate freely on his platform.

Under French law, Durov's detention cannot exceed 8 PM local time (2 AM Beijing time on August 29, totaling 96 hours).

At that time, Durov will be brought to a Paris court, where an investigating judge will decide whether to charge him or release him as a key witness in the investigation. If charged, another judge will determine whether to impose restrictions on his actions or require him to pay bail. French authorities are investigating allegations that he refused to assist with lawful wiretaps, allowed the dissemination of child sexual abuse materials, and facilitated drug trafficking. Telegram has issued a statement saying that Durov "has nothing to hide" and emphasized that the platform complies with European laws.
