ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, EigenLayer's data availability solution EigenDA now supports native token re-staking for Layer2 expansion networks in addition to Ethereum. The announcement states: "Teams can now re-stake their ERC-20 tokens to ensure the custom validator set for their rollup, unlocking stronger security for rollup users and providing token holders with token rewards."

EigenDA is the first and largest "Active Validation Service" (AVS) launched on EigenLayer. According to the EigenLayer website, it is backed by approximately 3.6 million re-staked ETH and 71.5 million EIGEN contributed by over 128,000 stakers. Native token re-staking on EigenDA allows Layer2 to create custom consensus mechanisms or "validator sets" to securely store and access data. It also expands the range of tokens that can earn rewards from re-staking. The announcement states: "With the custom ERC20 token validator set added to EigenDA, participants will soon be able to choose to stake other tokens in the same way as staking ETH and EIGEN tokens."
