ChainCatcher news, according to TheBlock, reports that Telegram CEO Pavel Durov is facing charges including providing unauthorized "cryptographic" services and tools, as stated in a declaration from the Paris judicial court.
The statement said: "The arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov was carried out in the context of a judicial investigation that began on July 8, 2024, following a preliminary investigation initiated by the cybercrime division of the Paris prosecutor's office. The charges in the judicial investigation are for providing cryptographic services and tools." The document also listed several other charges, including conspiracy to "possess child pornography" and "money laundering of proceeds from a criminal organization." As part of the cybercrime investigation, Durov is being questioned and may be detained until August 28.
