ChainCatcher news, according to PR Newswire, the publicly listed medical company Semler Scientific announced that it has purchased an additional 83 bitcoins for $5 million in cash (including fees and expenses).

As of August 26, 2024, Semler Scientific holds a total of 1,012 bitcoins, with an acquisition cost of $68 million (including fees and expenses).

Eric Semler, Chairman of Semler Scientific, stated: "We have recently purchased more bitcoins primarily using operational cash and funds raised through our market stock program. We are encouraged by the increasing adoption of bitcoin by institutions.

Recent reports indicate that institutions now hold over 20% of bitcoin ETF assets under management for the first time. We believe this growing institutionalization will drive the price of bitcoin and the value for our shareholders."
