Yassamin Ansari, supported by Fairshake with $1.4 million, wins the Arizona legislative primary
ChainCatcher news, Democratic candidate for cryptocurrency Yassamin Ansari narrowly defeated Raquel Terán, supported by Senator Elizabeth Warren, in the Arizona District 3 congressional primary by a margin of 39 votes. This result was confirmed on Tuesday after a recount. Ansari, who previously served as the Deputy Mayor of Phoenix, will be competing in a strongly Democratic district in the general election, making her a likely candidate to become one of the congressional representatives advocating for friendly regulation of the U.S. digital asset industry.
The major political action committee in the cryptocurrency industry, Fairshake, provided approximately $1.4 million in advertising support for Ansari's campaign, which drew strong criticism from her opponents.
Fairshake spokesperson Josh Vlasto stated, "We are proud to support a leader like her in Congress who will work across the aisle, embrace innovation, and promote economic growth." So far, Fairshake has funded up to 21 congressional campaigns.
