Chinese businessman in Thailand was robbed at home and forced to transfer 2 million dollars in cryptocurrency
ChainCatcher news, according to the Bangkok Post, Thai police are on the hunt for four Chinese suspects who broke into a luxury home in Pathum Thani and forced their Chinese national victim to transfer $2 million (approximately 70 million Thai Baht) in digital currency.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Wednesday at a house in the Bang Mai area of Mueang District, where six residents were present, three men and three women. One of the victims, Ke Jibao, 35, is a Chinese businessman. The intruders ordered Mr. Ke to call a relative in China to transfer $2 million in digital currency to their accounts.
Colonel Narong Iamrahong, head of the Pak Khlong Rangsit police station, stated that investigators are reviewing footage from other security cameras in the area to track the suspects. He also mentioned that the victims and neighbors will be further questioned.
