ChainCatcher news, after Apple decided to allow third-party developers access to the secure payment chip, Circle will introduce the "tap-to-pay" payment method on iPhone. This new feature is expected to utilize Apple's Near Field Communication (NFC) chip and Secure Element (SE), which were previously limited to Apple's own Wallet app and Apple Pay.

This will allow direct payments in USDC at the point of sale, with the iPhone's Wallet app prompting users to confirm transactions through features like FaceID, enabling seamless settlement of payments on the blockchain.

This new feature will initially be available only in specific countries/regions, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
