ChainCatcher news, according to the "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily," apps such as WeChat, Taobao, and Xiaohongshu have launched a pilot program for "online identity cards." Users can apply for a virtual "online identity card" through the "National Online Identity Authentication App (Certification Version)" for real-name verification. The pilot phase covers 67 applications and scenarios, including the National Government Service Platform, China Railway 12306, Taobao, WeChat, and more. This initiative aims to simplify the identity verification process and ensure user privacy and security.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Security and the National Internet Information Office drafted the "National Online Identity Authentication Public Service Management Measures (Draft for Comments)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Draft for Comments"), which contains a total of 16 articles. The core is "to provide services such as applying for online numbers, online certificates, and identity verification for natural persons." The "Draft for Comments" was publicly solicited for opinions from society on July 26, 2024, with feedback due by August 25, 2024.
