Vitalik: The phenomenon of "one-sided ability traps" is widespread in different types of politics and projects
ChainCatcher news, Vitalik Buterin stated in a post on X that he introduced the concept of "one-sided capability trap" in his comments on the article "The Bitcoin Block Size War."
Buterin pointed out that one group monopolizes all capabilities, but their views are narrow and biased; another group, while recognizing the problem, becomes obsessed with opposition and fails to develop execution capabilities. This situation leads to the pro-large block side failing to realize the importance of execution capabilities, ultimately resulting in multiple failures when creating fork chains like Bitcoin Cash, with the community stabilizing only after several splits. Buterin referred to this as the "one-sided capability trap" and believes this phenomenon is widespread in various types of politics and projects.
Vitalik stated, "This phenomenon is widespread in different types of politics and projects. We should better understand how to escape this trap."
