Can the brilliance of $DEGEN be replicated around Solana Blink's $SEND?

Two weeks ago, Solana's Blink became popular.

We previously detailed in “Interpreting Solana Blink: One-click embedding of on-chain operations into social media, is the end of going viral all about socialization?” :

Blink allows on-chain functions to be embedded directly on Twitter, enabling various actions such as swaps, mints, and donations with a single click on a tweet.

However, at that time, Blink only showcased its capabilities of "what I can do," leaving the specifics of "how to do it" open for the community and developers to explore.

Therefore, it is even more necessary for us to pay attention to new projects that are emerging around Blink.

Time is of the essence; just a few days after Blink was released, an account named SEND (@thesendcoin) seemed fully prepared, directly showcasing over 50 use cases of what can be done with Blink through detailed, vivid, and authentic descriptions.

I haven't even started researching yet, and you already have all these use cases ready?

Coincidentally, the official release date of Blink was the 25th; SEND's official account hinted on the 24th that "there's big news for Solana this week, don't blink, send it."

It was as if they were about to reveal that they already knew about Blink.

Another point that cannot be overlooked is that Solana's founder Toly currently has a pinned tweet that is another tweet from the SEND team proposing 100 use cases for Blinks, clearly promoting the project; combined with SEND's prescient posts, it is hard not to associate this with official support.

Did you think this was all about technology? There is certainly a degen aspect worth noting.

What you might not know is that SEND launched a feature to mint NFTs directly through a Twitter button a week ago, allowing NFT holders to enjoy the rights to subsequent $SEND token airdrops.

And the project description for SEND clearly states: SEND will be a community token to support the Solana Blink ecosystem.

Do you remember that Warpcast itself had no tokens, but it incubated community MEME coins like DEGEN?

Farcaster --- CAST function --- $DEGEN, could a similar path occur with Blink function --- $SEND?

100,000 NFTs, FOMO swept away

To support the Blink ecosystem, SEND first set an example while also creating a speculative FOMO.

On July 3, SEND posted directly on X, launching 100,000 Send It series NFTs, which could be minted directly on the X page by clicking the Collect button in conjunction with Blink's functionality.

With the Phantom wallet's "allow ACTION on X.com" feature (supporting Blink's technical framework), you can easily mint this NFT.

At the same time, SEND officially stipulated that each NFT holder would have a chance to win a lottery for a 6.9 SOL prize; they would also receive more undisclosed airdrop rewards.

Considering that the SEND project also has its own "community token $SEND," this undisclosed airdrop is likely pointing towards the $SEND token itself.

Several key factors combined naturally heightened the FOMO sentiment, and the send it NFTs were quickly snatched up; as of the time of writing, the floor price for this series on Tensor was around 0.42 SOL.

Clearly, SEND's official team knows how to create buzz; after the NFTs were minted, they posted a link with Blink functionality, indicating that while you can no longer mint, you can still trade it, allowing for one-click purchases of the NFT.

At this point, Send it became more speculative, and the implication of the translation might just send the NFT floor price soaring.

With technology, use cases, and a knack for engagement, SEND around Blink indeed reminds one of the time when Warpcaster was hot, with applications spawning MEME coins like DEGEN.

From the community, to the community

The SEND official website is currently very simple, revealing little about token details and the organizations behind it.

However, from the purpose of the project's establishment and the use cases presented, it appears to be more about serving the ecosystem that Blink can build in the future, along with its developers.

In the long tweet mentioning the 100+ Blinks use cases at the beginning of the article, SEND has already clearly stated that they welcome other developers to implement similar use cases and actively reach out to them.

This is essentially saying, I have the capability to set an example, and I also welcome more developers to co-build the Blink ecosystem.

Anyone who has been in the crypto space for a while knows that relying solely on courage and excellent technology makes it difficult to stand out in a limited and fickle attention span; whatever you do, you should leave room for imagination related to the token.

SEND clearly embodies this characteristic, meaning I am not just a selfless developer supporting the ecosystem; I also have my own token $SEND, which is already rooted in the community.

Although the official has not disclosed specific cooperation models, we can boldly speculate whether projects collaborating with SEND to develop Blink use cases will receive rewards in $SEND tokens?

And will users utilizing these use cases also receive rewards in $SEND tokens?

This is similar to the DEGEN/CAST/MEME tokens that emerged in Farcaster or Warpcaster, namely:

All tokens are the best reward for early builders and participants in the ecosystem.

Only, MEME coins like DEGEN grew in a user-driven manner, where active users could obtain them; while SEND's approach seems to be working on both ends --- developers building Blink use cases and users utilizing Blink both have the potential to earn $SEND tokens.

From the community, to the community.

People do not dislike the spontaneous generation of a token; what they dislike is not being able to reap the benefits from it.

Leveraging this psychology, SEND's model can certainly sustain itself and will generate network effects as more people use Blink and share their airdrop experiences.

However, with Farcaster's daily active users hitting an ATH and TON's ecosystem black and white dog instantly attracting a million followers, it is hard to predict who will be a flash in the pan and who will laugh last.

But one thing we know.

Whoever pleases the community will possess liquidity and attention.
