Governor of the Bank of Italy: Guidelines for the application of MiCA will be announced in the coming days
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, Italy's central bank governor Fabio Panetta stated that the Bank of Italy will announce guidelines on how to apply the upcoming EU cryptocurrency regulations in the coming days.
According to Panetta's speech at the Italian Banking Association, these guidelines will "aim to promote effective application" of the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and "protect" certain cryptocurrency holders. MiCA outlines two main categories of tokens: Asset-Referenced Tokens (ARTs) and Electronic Money Tokens (EMTs), which meet the requirements for payment.
However, he pointed out that the Bank of Italy found that only EMTs can "fully perform the function of a means of payment while maintaining public trust."
