ChainCatcher news, developers of mini-program applications on Telegram can now exchange Telegram Stars for TON or discounted Telegram ads.

This move comes nearly a month after Telegram first launched Stars (a redeemable virtual currency) in early June. Users can purchase a certain amount of Stars to use with fiat currency in mini-program applications, and now developers have a way to convert them into cryptocurrency.

In a blog post on June 30, Telegram wrote: "Bot developers providing digital goods and services, as well as creators monetizing their channels through paid posts, can now use the Telegram Stars they earn to receive token rewards or purchase Telegram ads. Telegram takes almost no commission from Stars transactions, so you only need to pay taxes and payment system fees. When you transfer Stars to your Telegram ad account, Telegram will even add a 30% discount to cover all third-party payment system fees."
