Yesterday, we announced that users can now link their Solana wallet addresses to their Grass accounts. This is not only a significant moment for Grass but also a major event for the entire AI industry. Our plan has always been to fundamentally revolutionize the development of artificial intelligence, and the importance of this update lies in:
- Users will be rewarded for contributing resources
The Grass network can track the data each node pulls from the network. When this data is used for AI inference or training, there will be a clear link connecting the pulling actions to the datasets. When each node is associated with a wallet address, we can allocate the value of AI back to the specific nodes providing the data.
This moves towards a completely decentralized method of tracking resource usage. These records cannot be manipulated or hidden by any company, which means AI will be fairer and more just, allowing individual users to actually gain a share of the benefits.
Considering you have already been providing these resources for free to companies, the only difference now is that you will actually receive rewards.
- Laying the foundation for transparency in AI training data sources
With this feature, the network will not only track which node pulled which dataset but also track the specific source of the dataset—i.e., the exact location from which the data came. The moment a dataset is pulled, the network will automatically compile metadata about its source and the node that pulled it, recording it on-chain in bulk to create a permanent record of data sources. This is a feature that other data supply solutions lack, and we believe it is a key link in solving the biggest problems currently facing AI.
- Making AI more transparent and fair, reducing its centralization
Think about the biggest issues currently affecting AI. For developers, there is no way to ensure that the datasets you are using are not contaminated unless you re-pull them yourself to verify. For users, there is no way to determine whether the agent you are interacting with is biased unless you can see the data the developers chose to train it. And for everyone, we face the risk of a few companies dominating AI and forming a monopoly over the most important technologies.
Grass aims to address all these issues. When developers can verify without a doubt that the datasets come directly from the intended sources, they no longer need to worry about data contamination. When this information can be publicly available for individual models, users can know for certain whether they are being presented with real information or fake news. Most importantly, when a system is created to allocate the value of AI to millions of people operating the network together, rather than a few large companies, we can work together to make it fairer and less exploitative.
Other Progress
In addition to the positive impact on training data acquisition, Grass has also broken down technical barriers by introducing Live Context Retrieval. This refers to the real-time pulling of data during inference to provide context for LLMs. This is a feature currently under development that does not exist elsewhere, and we will soon release more information.
We believe a better world is possible, and the future is within reach. There is still time to save AI, and we are committed to this. The mission is underway. Thank you to all users for your vision and support of Grass.
