Data: The number of active Bitcoin addresses has fallen to its lowest point since 2019
ChainCatcher news, according to Glassnode data, after the halving in April 2024, the number of active Bitcoin addresses has significantly decreased due to soaring transaction fees and network congestion.
This increase in fees is partly due to the emergence of new protocols like Runes, which have impacted Bitcoin's utility in daily transactions, leading to a significant decline in network activity. Although the current number of active addresses has dropped to a low not seen since 2019, the price of Bitcoin is nearing historical highs.
