ChainCatcher news, an online survey released by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, shows that ChatGPT is currently the most widely used generative AI tool; however, the overall frequency of use of generative AI tools remains relatively low. Researchers surveyed over 10,000 people across six countries: the UK, the US, Argentina, Denmark, France, and Japan.

The results indicate that ChatGPT is the most recognized generative AI tool to date—approximately 50% of internet users in the six countries mentioned have heard of it. It is also the most widely used generative AI tool among the six countries. Nevertheless, the survey reveals that the frequency of use of ChatGPT is still very low, with only 1% of people in Japan using it daily, 2% in France and the UK, and 7% in the US.
