Bloomberg: U.S. prosecutors recommend a prison sentence of 5 to 7 years for former FTX executive Ryan Salame
ChainCatcher news, according to Bloomberg, U.S. prosecutors stated that former FTX executive Ryan Salame should be sentenced to 5 to 7 years in prison. In a sentencing memorandum submitted to the Manhattan federal court on Tuesday, federal prosecutors indicated that Salame admitted to "committing serious offenses and requires a substantial sentence to ensure Salame receives a fair punishment." His lawyer argued that his prison time should not exceed 18 months.
Prosecutors wrote: "Campaign finance violations are among the largest illegal activities in U.S. history, with unauthorized fund transfers trading over $1 billion without proper oversight." Salame is scheduled to be sentenced on May 28, and core members opposing SBF—Caroline Ellison, Nishad Singh, and Gary Wang—have yet to be sentenced.
