The Korean National Tax Service will impose a tax of 40 billion won on Bithumb users

ChainCatcher news, Bithumb announced that it has issued preliminary notifications of comprehensive income tax to some users who participated in events held from 2018 to 2021, and announced full support for the related tax amounts. Bithumb stated that it will determine the accurate tax amount through sufficient communication and discussion with users, while prepaying this amount to the National Tax Service on behalf of the users; it will also provide tax consulting services and appeal procedures for comprehensive income tax through tax experts specifically available to individual users.

The Korean National Tax Service has notified 10,700 Bithumb users of a total of 83.3 billion won in activity rewards, and plans to notify users of approximately 19 billion won in additional taxes as comprehensive income tax. According to Bithumb's calculations, this tax amount is expected to reach 40 billion won (approximately 29.24 million USD).

In addition, a tax appeal is currently being filed regarding the National Tax Service's handling of withholding tax on other income.
