From April 6 to 9, the 2024 Hong Kong Web3 Carnival, co-hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Lab and HashKey Group, and organized by W3ME, will set up 1 main venue, 3 sub-venues, and 1 Open Stage area on the 3rd floor of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, showcasing a series of exciting speeches filled with insights, roundtable discussions with memorable quotes, passionate esports competitions, and youthful stage performances…

In his opening speech, Lu Weiding, a representative of the National People's Congress, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Chairman and CEO of Wanxiang Group, stated, "In the past two years, Hong Kong has become one of the international centers for virtual assets, having a global influence in the virtual asset industry. The 2024 Hong Kong Web3 Carnival has some new characteristics, one being global representation with many significant projects from Europe and America participating; secondly, nearly half of the projects are in the field of blockchain applications. Lu Weiding pointed out that the 1995 moment for blockchain applications is approaching, and the next few years will be the best time for Hong Kong's economic development. Let us tell the Hong Kong story well together and build Hong Kong's digital economy."

Under the dual stimulation of the "traditional economic winter" and the "approval of Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S.", the Web3 industry has burst forth with unprecedented innovation and vitality. Along with the exponentially growing capital, millions of users and countless application scenarios are exploring Web3. Hong Kong has always maintained a keen insight and proactive response to emerging technologies. In the face of the rapid development of Web3 technology, the Hong Kong government has promptly introduced relevant policies and regulatory systems, providing strong support for the development of the virtual asset and Web3 industries.

In his opening remarks, the Acting Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Paul Chan, stated, "Hong Kong focuses on two main areas in the development of Web3: first, support for Hong Kong's virtual asset trading platforms; second, support for Web3 developers. The Hong Kong government is amending a law to bring virtual asset OTC trading under legal regulation, and the proposed law is being formulated. Additionally, Hong Kong will allow intermediaries to provide trading of qualified virtual assets, futures, and ETFs. Looking ahead, we will continue to collaborate with more industry participants to bring more insights and possibilities to Hong Kong and promote the development of the Web3 industry."

Moreover, representatives from popular projects and industry leaders from around the world, including Legislative Council member (Technology and Innovation) Kenneth Lau, Chief Public Mission Officer of Cyberport, Chan Siu-yin, CEO of HashKey Capital, Deng Chao, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of ARK Invest, Cathie Wood, Founder and Chief Scientist of the DFINITY Foundation, Dominic Williams, Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Chan Ho-lam, President of the Japan Virtual Currency Exchange Association (JVCEA), Genki Oda, Dean of the Global Fintech Institute, Li Guoquan, Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Virtual Asset Industry Association, Yang Jin-yan, Chairman of the TON Foundation, John Hyman, and Chief Investment Officer of Telegram APP, Steve Yun, will either deliver keynote speeches at the opening ceremony or share insights on the international stage of the 2024 Hong Kong Web3 Carnival, breaking through the boundaries of Web3 industry development and painting a vibrant picture of the Web3 spring with industry data and factual cases.
