The SEC seeks to increase resources related to cryptocurrency enforcement review in the fiscal year 2025 budget
ChainCatcher News, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) budget request for fiscal year 2025 indicates that it aims to expand its enforcement and examination divisions by adding more than 50 new positions, with cryptocurrency being a priority. More resources will enhance the division's ability to address critical and evolving risks, such as those related to the resilience of key market infrastructure, cybersecurity, and risks associated with crypto assets and emerging technologies.
Additionally, the SEC has requested to add a position in its Office of Investor Education, which will primarily focus on handling issues and complaints related to fraud involving securities of crypto assets.
