BitMEX: Yesterday, the BTC price on the platform plummeted to $8,900 due to aggressive selling by a very small number of accounts
ChainCatcher news, according to Bloomberg, the cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX is investigating unusual trading activity that led to a flash crash of BTC on its platform yesterday.
On Monday evening, the price of BTC against USDT on BitMEX briefly dropped to $8,900, while the normal market price of BTC at that time was around $66,000. Subsequently, the price of BTC on BitMEX quickly rebounded, reaching $64,284 as of 4:10 PM today.
A BitMEX spokesperson stated that the company has conducted an investigation into the incident and found evidence of "aggressive selling behavior involving a very small number of accounts that exceeded market expectations," adding that its systems are operating normally and all user funds are secure.
