The Spanish Data Protection Agency has taken precautionary measures against Worldcoin developers, requiring them to stop collecting and processing user information from the country
ChainCatcher news, according to an official announcement, the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) has ordered the core developers of Worldcoin, Tools for Humanity Corporation, to take precautionary measures to stop collecting and processing personal data within Spain under the Worldcoin project framework, and to block the data that has already been collected. The regulatory agency stated that it has received multiple complaints against the company, involving insufficient information, collection of data from minors, and inability to withdraw consent, among other violations.
Worldcoin Foundation's Data Protection Officer Jannick Preiwisch stated: "It is unfortunate that the action taken by the Spanish data protection agency (AEPD) today is circumventing the established procedures of GDPR, and their actions are limited to Spain rather than the broader EU."
