SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce: The SEC is in "enforcement mode" regarding cryptocurrencies
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, at the ETHDenver conference, SEC Commissioner Hester Pierce stated in a conversation with CNBC's MacKenzie Sigalos that decentralization benefits the U.S. financial system. She said, "Decentralization can actually bring resilience and strength to the financial system. Therefore, I hope to see more resilience and strength… The problems of centralization always keep me awake at night."
In addition, Hester Pierce also stated that the SEC is in "enforcement mode" regarding cryptocurrencies. "What I’m reflecting is that you all are spending part of your brainpower thinking about how to avoid being sued. If we had clearer rules, you could focus on building."
It is reported that Hester Peirce was a lawyer and was appointed as a commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) by former President Donald Trump in 2018.
