Vitalik: It is worth adding some complex L1 features to alleviate the code burden on L2
ChainCatcher message, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated on X that his confidence in the concept of "simplifying L1, even at the cost of more complex L2" has decreased threefold compared to five years ago. The issue is that when weighing the risks of L1 bugs against L2 bugs, it is unclear whether the latter is better.
"If an issue arises in L1, core developers will be busy for a day, but eventually everything will return to normal. If an L2 error occurs, people could permanently lose a significant amount of funds. Therefore, I think it is actually worth adding some fairly complex L1 features to alleviate the code burden on L2 and keep it relatively simple."
