ChainCatcher news, on February 16, Galaxy's Vice President of Research Christine Kim summarized the 181st Ethereum Core Developers Execution (ACDE) conference call, where developers shared the latest updates on their preparations for the mainnet activation of the Dencun upgrade and discussed various Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs).

Most of these were proposed to be included in the Pectra upgrade, while other proposals were suggested as "retroactive" EIPs, meaning that changes to the protocol rules would be applied retroactively to all Ethereum transactions since the genesis block.

Ethereum Foundation DevOps Engineer Barnabas Busa stated that his team is synchronizing nodes to the Ethereum mainnet in preparation for the shadow fork. Developers plan to execute a shadow fork of the Ethereum mainnet for the Dencun upgrade after all final client versions of Dencun are released. The client teams plan to release the final version of Dencun later next week.

Busa mentioned that his team will upgrade their nodes to these versions shortly thereafter and aims to complete the mainnet shadow fork by February 23 (Friday). Once the results of the shadow fork are available and the outcome is positive, he will proceed to publish an official EF blog post announcing the mainnet activation date for the Dencun upgrade as March 13.
