Onecoin lawyer sentenced to ten years in prison for money laundering

ChainCatcher news, lawyer Mark Scott related to the cryptocurrency Onecoin has been sentenced to ten years in prison. He was accused of laundering $400 million from the Onecoin project to maintain a lavish lifestyle. Scott sold a Porsche and transferred the funds to the Cayman Islands, with the judge stating that this money should have been used to compensate the victims of Onecoin. Scott's defense attorneys repeatedly asserted throughout the trial that Scott was unaware. They claimed he did not know that OneCoin was a fraudulent project.

Earlier reports indicated that OneCoin's legal and compliance officer Irina Dilkinska admitted to involvement in money laundering and telecom fraud, or she could face 10 years in prison; OneCoin co-founder was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a $300 million fine for defrauding users.
