Vitalik: Becoming Validium is one of the right choices for most applications

ChainCatcher message, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin expressed his agreement on X with Taiko CEO Daniel Wang's point that "using other data chain DA for Rollup can be considered as Ethereum Validium."

Vitalik pointed out that the core of Rollup is unconditional security guarantees. If DA relies on systems outside of Ethereum, this cannot be achieved. However, for many applications, becoming a validium is the right choice, as using a good distributed DA guarantee system can significantly enhance the practical security of validium. Validium is a scalability solution for Ethereum Layer 2, which can be understood as a ZKRollup that does not use ETH as the DA layer.

Note: In the initial exploration of scaling solutions for Ethereum, those using validity proofs and publishing data on-chain are called ZK Rollup, while those using validity proofs but publishing data off-chain are called Validium.
