An increasing number of project teams are launching point systems to encourage users to actively participate and improve user retention and loyalty. This is widely regarded as an effective traffic generation strategy before the release of airdrops. For users, this not only provides potential clear rewards but also allows them to receive corresponding incentives based on their contributions.

Of course, when designing and implementing a point system, it is also necessary to pay attention to balancing incentives with economic sustainability. A reasonable point model and strategy are key to ensuring the short- and medium-term sustainable development of the point system.

Blast

Blast is a Layer2 network launched by Pacman, the founder of Blur, in late November, supported by Paradigm, Standard Crypto, and eGirl Capital. The initial yields provided by Blast come from Lido and MakerDAO, with Lido's yield rate derived from ETH staking returns and MakerDAO's yield coming from on-chain US Treasury bonds. As of the time of writing, Blast's TVL has reached $1.167 billion, with nearly 90,000 participating users.

Blur

Blur launched its third season airdrop simultaneously with the announcement of Blast, which will end in May. 50% of the rewards for Season 3 will be distributed to BLUR holders (holder points); 50% will be distributed to Blur community members (Blur points).

In the holder points program, depositing BLUR earns holder points, which can be withdrawn at any time. When Blast governance goes live in May 2024, distribution will be based on users' total holder scores (holder points x multiplier). Holders earn 1 point for each BLUR held per hour. Additionally, the multiplier starts at 1x and increases by 0.5x each month after the user's first deposit.

In the Blur points program, points can be earned through bidding, listing, and lending. Bidding and listing points apply to all collectibles and are issued at the same rate. Bids that take on the highest "risk" can earn the majority of points. Lending points are only applicable to collectibles supported by the Blend protocol, with a distribution rate of half that of bidding and listing points.

Manta Network

Manta Network is a modular L2 protocol, which previously completed a $25 million funding round at a valuation of $500 million in July 2023, led by Polychain Capital and Qiming Venture Partners. According to the official website, the activity of earning Manta token rewards by depositing tokens on Manta Network will end in January 2024.

EigenLayer

EigenLayer is an Ethereum restaking protocol. In March 2023, its team EigenLabs completed a $50 million Series A funding round, led by Blockchain Capital, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Polychain Capital, Hack VC, Electric Capital, IOSG Ventures, and others. EigenLayer has launched restaking points to measure user contributions.

Strategy: Restake Ethereum's liquid staking tokens.

ether.fi

ether.fi is a liquid staking platform that allows users to mint eETH to earn ETH staking rewards, ether.fi points, and EigenLayer points. In February 2023, ether.fi completed a $5.3 million funding round, co-led by North Island Ventures, Chapter One, and Node Capital, with participation from BitMex founder Arthur Hayes.

Loyalty points earned by users = staked ETH * 1000 * number of staking days.

friend.tech

The Web3 social platform friend.tech once sparked a SociaFi craze and will release version 2 in spring 2024.

Scallop

Scallop is a lending protocol on Sui that launched an airdrop points system at the beginning of January, with a snapshot completed before January 1, 2024.

The first phase aims to support early supporters of Scallop, including Zealy participants, verified Sui Scalloper roles on Discord, lenders and borrowers on the Scallop platform, and specific roles in Scallop plans. Any user who borrows over $100 will qualify for the airdrop, and users can earn points based on their activity and participation in Scallop, which can be used to generate Mysterious Boxes in the first phase. Mysterious Boxes come in different tiers, including bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, and legendary, and can be opened for airdrops once the tokens are launched. Scallop will soon announce information about the second phase of the airdrop.

Grass

Grass is a decentralized incentive network scraping network. In December 2023, its team Wynd Network completed a $3.5 million seed round, led by Polychain Capital and Tribe Capital, with participation from Bitscale, Big Brain, Advisors Anonymous, Typhon V, Mozaik, and others. Wynd's total funding has reached $4.5 million.

Grass has currently launched a referral program and points activities. Grass has stated that it will reward early adopters, and at the end of the testing period, these points will be retroactively converted into network ownership.

Rainbow

In December 2023, Rainbow launched the Rainbow points program, where Ethereum network users on Rainbow will earn points. Additionally, users who switch from MetaMask to Rainbow will earn more points, and loyal Rainbow users will receive additional points. Furthermore, anyone who used the exchange function of MetaMask last year and imports their MetaMask wallet into Rainbow can earn up to 150,000 extra points.

Sleepless AI is a Web3+AI companion gaming platform, with investors including Foresight Ventures, Binance Labs, and Folius Ventures. Sleepless AI is also the 42nd project in Binance Launchpool, with new token mining ending on January 4 at 08:00, and trading on Binance starting at 18:00 on January 4.

Sleepless AI will allocate 1% of the total token supply for the initial airdrop.

Zeta Markets

Zeta Markets is a DeFi derivatives protocol based on Solana, which launched Z-Score in October 2023, allowing users to earn Z-Score based on their trading activity on Zeta. Additionally, a 24-hour profit and loss ranking will also determine the reward multiplier. The first season of Z-Score has now ended, and the second season will be announced in the first week of 2024.

marginfi

marginfi is a lending protocol in the Solana ecosystem, which announced the launch of the mrgn points program in July 2023.

Tensor is an NFT trading platform in the Solana ecosystem, and the points activity has now entered its third season. However, to prevent abuse and cultivate a healthy market, Tensor has hidden the points counter in the third season activity.
