ChainCatcher news, OKLink 2023 Annual Security Incident Review, the blockchain ecosystem has publicly reported over 520 security incidents in 2023, with losses exceeding $1.7 billion, a decrease of about 54% compared to $3.728 billion in 2022. This decline is attributed to the improvement of the global regulatory framework and breakthroughs in on-chain security technology. Among these, there were 485 security incidents related to DApps, DeFi, and NFTs, 8 incidents involving exchanges, 10 incidents related to public chains, 9 incidents concerning wallets, and 14 incidents of other types.

Significant security incidents with large losses include: in March, the Ethereum lending protocol Euler Finance was hacked, resulting in a loss of approximately $197 million; in June, the Atomic wallet was hacked, with losses exceeding $100 million; in September, Mixin Network was attacked, resulting in a loss of $200 million; in November, the Poloniex trading platform was stolen approximately $125 million due to private key leakage.

In addition, social media platforms such as Twitter and Discord have become hotspots for scams and phishing incidents, with a total of 519 such incidents occurring in 2023. For example, in September, Ethereum founder Vitalik's Twitter account was hacked, leading to the theft of over $690,000 in assets.
