ChainCatcher news, OurSky, an open space application developer platform founded by former OpenSea Vice President of Engineering Dan Roelker, announced the completion of a $9.5 million seed funding round, with investors including Upfront Ventures, Oceans Ventures, Venrex Investment Management, Marlinspike Partners, and Embedded Ventures.
OurSky will add artificial intelligence and open-source technology to StellarScan, providing amateur astronomers with the tools they need. Following the announcement of the $9.5 million seed funding, OurSky also launched a beta version of a telescope network connected via API.
Roelker stated that OurSky currently has 55 online telescopes at 20 locations to track objects in Earth, lunar, and more distant orbits. OurSky will encourage amateurs to join their network and share their data for collective discovery and tracking of space debris.
